Classical Jewelry (500 BCE - 400 CE)

During the Classical era, jewelry flourished across the Greek and Roman worlds. Goldsmiths produced intricate adornments featuring granulation, filigree, and finely engraved motifs. Wreaths, earrings, rings, and amulets were worn both as symbols of status and expressions of cultural identity.

Gemstones such as garnet, emerald, and sapphire became increasingly popular, often set into gold using sophisticated techniques. Roman jewelry in particular reflects a growing fascination with luxury, color, and personal adornment. Many of the design traditions established during this period would influence European jewelry for centuries.
